Presto Networks' PrestoStreamer product is a Linux-based standalone device, designed for IP video surveillance applications requiring simultaneous video and audio access from a large number of clients. The PrestoStreamer, is high-performance video streaming server, which retrieves video and audio streams from IP cameras, PrestoGates, and PrestoNVRs, and redistributes the streams to hundreds of, or even thousands of simultaneous users. 

PrestoStreamer has two network interfaces, which allow you to retrieve streams from one network and redistributes to another, so that real time video recording can be made in highest quality without any bandwidth impact on the data network. In addition, adaptive streaming technologies provide the best video quality for remote monitoring, where bandwidth is limited.  An easy-to-use web interface allows you to view live video and replay recorded history anywhere on the Internet.

In a webcast application, such as traffic camera systems, PrestoStreamer can be placed near the video sources where the video is produced. PrestoStreamer is compatible with all major media players including Apple QuickTime, RealNetworks RealPlayer, and 3GPP player so that webcast streams can be embedded in any web pages and can be accessed be 3GPP compatible cellphones.

It is also an perfect solution in a video surveillance system requiring a control control where hundreds of or even thousands of monitoring stations are located. The PrestoStreamer retrieves video from either directly from IP cameras, or from PrestoGates and PrestoNVRs, and delivers the streams to the user.

PrestoStreamer integrates an video cache server, where most recently accessed contents are cached and will not be retrieved again from the video source. This approach results in a high-performance content delivery network with optimal bandwidth usage.

Multiple PrestoStreamers can work together in a load-balanced manner. They can be managed through a web interface or through a Central Management Server (CMS).
